Individual 1:1 Music Therapy Services

I am a board-certified music therapist in practice for over 15 years. Much of my practice is focused on hospice, end of life care, palliative care, bereavement, and grief support. I do see clients with other needs, such as chronic medical conditions, chronic pain, respiratory symptoms, anxiety, depression, and stress management. In addition to mainstream music therapy, I also practice music healing techniques from many indigenous and eastern cultures. Some interventions include:

  • Rythmic Entrainment
  • Meditation
  • Music Assisted Guided Imagery & Relaxation
  • Vibrational energy techniques
  • Counseling techniques employing music
  • Songwriting and composition
  • Creative Improvisational Music Therapy Techniques
  • Toning and melodic intonation
  • Lyric analysis

In my hospice work I also include many established techniques, such as:

  • Music Assisted Life Review & Reminiscence
  • Mood Entrainment
  • Transitional Music Techniques
  • Music-Assisted Spritual Support
  • End-of-life counselling
  • Grief Support
  • Family therapy sessions

I serve all ages from a few months old to 106 (oldest so far) with a variety of medical conditions (cancers, dementia, neuromuscular diseases, stroke, cardiovascular disease, to name a few). Many of my hospice clients are seen through Ridgeview Hospice or other organizations, but I am also available to see clients on an individual basis in a variety of care and residential settings. My general area I practice is in the western Twin Cities Metro area and rural areas west of the cities.

I have experience working in several areas and with several populations as a music therapist. I received my degree in music therapy from Augsburg College in Minneapolis Minnesota and conducted my clinical internship at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in Oncology, Hospice, Neurology, and Chronic Pain. I am Board Certified in Music Therapy. I have also researched the music and healing traditions of many indigenous cultures and incorporate what I have learned into my music therapy practice.
